Systems Engineering & Strategic Impact

"Change isn't a threat—it's an opportunity."

I was born in Germany and grew up in the Netherlands, which taught me early on that you can't just stay in one lane. Moving between cultures showed me that being adaptable isn't optional—it's essential. These days, I bring that same approach to systems engineering and service management.

Why Public Administration Matters -in IT

Before getting into IT, I studied Public Administration. Most technical managers don't have this background, and honestly, it's made all the difference for me:

  • Systemic Thinking: When I make a technical change, I'm always thinking about how it affects people across different teams, departments, and even countries.
  • Governance & Compliance: I know how to build workflows that actually align with organizational policy and long-term goals—not just systems that technically work.
  • Human-Centric Design: Technology is only one piece of the puzzle. I spend just as much time thinking about the people using it and the processes around it.

Making Things Actually Work Better

Nothing frustrates me more than watching teams waste time on things that could be automated or streamlined. I've spent my career hunting down inefficiencies and fixing them.

  • Continuous Service Improvement: I don't believe in building something and walking away. Systems need to evolve based on how they actually perform in the real world.
  • Eliminating Waste: A lot of my work involves finding those repetitive manual tasks that eat up everyone's time. I've helped teams get back hundreds of hours a year just by automating the boring stuff.
  • Scalable Frameworks: Whether it's Incident Management or Request Fulfillment, I build processes that can handle chaos without breaking but stay flexible as things change.

What I'm Good At

Focus Area My Approach What It Means
Process Optimization Finding what slows teams down and fixing it. Fewer errors, more time for actual work.
Global Operations Leading teams across different countries and time zones. Systems that run smoothly around the clock.
Crisis Management Staying calm when everything's on fire. Turning disasters into improvements.

Leading Through the Chaos

I've built teams from the ground up and managed them across multiple continents. The biggest lesson? When systems fail and the pressure's on, the fix isn't always technical. Sometimes it's about clear communication, trust, and making the right call quickly.

There's nothing quite like watching a team you've built handle a crisis with confidence.

How I Think About Work

Every project starts with these three questions:

  1. How can we make this better?
  2. How can we work smarter?
  3. How do we make sure this actually lasts?

Let's Talk

If you're working on something that needs a systems thinker who cares about efficiency and real results, I'd love to hear about it.
